| Over the years, it was observed that, while the scale of health care services had expanded in the urban areas, development and access to qualified medical assistance in the rural areas was and is still scarce. Medical educational institutions, medical facilities and expertise in the rural areas was and still remains relatively low. |
| Thus, The WIT Nursing School was established in the year 1983 on the Kamila Tyabji WIT campus to equip girls with certified educational qualifications and to meet the need of trained medical nurses. |
| The Nursing School is an educational institute with strength. It adds value to the communities they live in and gives our students access to an exceptional pool of knowledge, experience and qualification. Here, as with other WIT courses, the education and training is imparted free. |
| The WIT Nursing School has to its credit a qualifying rate of 100% of which more than 95% are currently employed. At WIT, we are committed to improving the quality of education as well as the quality of patient care and medical services in India. |

Free education programmes on HIV/ AIDS have been introduced in the community by the WIT Nursing faculty members and the students.
The first of these sessions took place recently in the 'Kamatipura,' the red light area in Mumbai. The methodology used here to impart awareness was a 'skit'. The students enacted a real life situation on how AIDS was contracted and the care and support that is available. Doctors well versed in AIDS then gave a talk using audio visual material and this was followed by an open session. The programme was much appreciated by the community. |
